I liked the familiar, comfort-food type recipes but would have preferred more recipes that were healthier. There are base recipes to prepare ahead of time, but this is more for the busy individual than the busy individual who wants to do healthy meal prep. I also want to mention that a lot of these recipes look delicious and are familiar and don't have rare or expensive ingredients, which I appreciate, but I wish it could have been focused more on healthy meal prep. If I decide to not eat vegan at some point in the future I will LIVE by these recipes. The book layout was very well thought out with several recipes to please almost anyone. Photography was excellent as well. Still able to take away some good meal prep for lentils and beans.

I have to say given the publisher of this book, I expected to walk away with more recipes than I did. I even asked my husband to take a look at it in case I was being overly persnickety in my food choices. He pretty much said the same thing I did. The recipes simply were not appealing. Photos of the finished dish didn't help a really good chunk of them either. Look towards other Make Ahead cookbooks. This one just did nothing for us. The photos were really good. It broke it down into sections of freezer meal type, slow cooker etc. I liked how they did a protein base (pork, chicken, legume etc) that could then be made into 5-6 different recipes.

If you're looking for a cookbook with fantastic illustrations of make-ahead recipes, look no further! This is a great resource for anyone who, like me, cooks large portions of meals in batches and needs freezer friendly recipes. This cookbook also contains helpful 'base recipes', such as ground beef or shredded pork recipes that you can freeze and use as needed. Luckily, there was a vegetarian grain, bean, and lentil base that I'll personally be utilizing soon too! Some solid recipes if you need to make things to freeze in advance, or to put in a crock pot & walk away until dinner. Not a ton of things I'll take out of it, but the ones I have marked will really be helpful. A novel idea for busy families. Make up the food and then freeze it for consumption at a later date. One of the features is where they list the length of time the various meals will keep. Highly recommend this for the family on the go a lot.

Great, practical cookbook with wide appeal recipes. Might have to purchase this one.
Beautiful cookbook with gorgeous pictures and semi-healthy recipes but oh the sodium count. It's through the roof on many of these recipes. :( Beautiful cookbook with gorgeous pictures and semi-healthy recipes but oh the sodium count. It's through the roof on many of these recipes. :( ...more
